Ruthampara Sub-Sea Engineering, Research and Training center

Objective

Research and Innovation plays a vital role to improve the utilization of resources , so that it can be preserved for the future generation. By developing sustainable, cost effective technology using available resources within our country Inspired by “Make in India”.

Infrastructure

Completed research projects

Our team successfully completed the following design, development and commissioning:

  • Coffer dam technology for replacing hull-plate of size 1M X 1M at a depth of 4 Mt – in situ dry docking
  • A damaged pile under the wharf – 1300 MM Diameter with steal liner 10MM thick and 7-meter length with a weight of 22 M.T at a depth of 12 meter was sliced at seabed level using Diamond chain sawing technology.
  • Designed and implemented live tracking and positioning of intake sea water line of 1300MM diameter and 1.5 KM length at the drugged location of the seabed at a depth of 12 meter.
  • Implemented ICCP (Impressed current cathodic protection system) for sheet piling
  • Core drilling on a concrete structure at a depth of 13 meter.
  • Root cause analysis of various marine assets viz. PLEM, SPM, etc., and successfully implemented corrective measures
  • Designed, fabricated and commissioned a steel mat to cover a breach of size 8M X 10M on the hull of a ship met with an accident
Ongoing research projects

  • Hybrid technology – Solar, wave energy, wind energy, Flash type evaporation, offshore platform for fresh water generation, lighting etc,.
  • Optimization of Sea water intake and outfall diffusers.
  • Vessel traffic management using GPS / Navigational buoy and hand held tabs.
  • Wave powered navigational buoys
